Frequently Asked Questions

A few of the things people often ask before reaching out. Have another question? I’d love to hear from you.

Getting Started

How can therapy help me?

Therapy gives you a safe, supportive space to understand what you’re experiencing, work through challenges, and develop new ways of coping. You may gain greater self-awareness, improve your relationships and communication, manage stress and difficult emotions, strengthen your confidence, and find clarity around the concerns that brought you to therapy.

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes, having an outside perspective and a supportive space to process what you’re experiencing can make a meaningful difference. Reaching out for support is a sign that you’re taking your well-being seriously and are willing to grow and make positive changes.

People come to therapy for many different reasons—relationship challenges, anxiety, grief, life transitions, personal growth, family concerns, or simply because they want to better understand themselves.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need before reaching out. A free 15-minute consultation gives us an opportunity to talk about what you’re looking for and determine whether working together may be a good fit.

Your first session is an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, what’s happening in your life, and what you’d like to work toward. We’ll begin getting to know one another and identifying goals for our work together.

Most importantly, you should feel comfortable, heard, and supported. Finding a therapist who is the right fit matters.

The frequency of sessions depends on your needs and goals. Sessions are typically scheduled weekly at first and may become biweekly as therapy progresses.

We’ll work together to determine a schedule that makes sense for you.

The initial intake session is 60 minutes. Individual and couples therapy sessions that follow are 50 minutes.

Working Together

I especially enjoy working with women—from young adulthood through midlife and beyond—as well as young adults, adolescents age 16+, and couples.

I support clients navigating anxiety and stress, relationships, life transitions, grief and loss, identity and self-worth, family challenges, parenting, divorce and blended families, and personal and spiritual growth.

There isn’t one timeline that works for everyone. Therapy may be relatively short-term when you’re working through a specific concern, or it may continue longer when you’re addressing deeper patterns, relationships, or personal growth.

We’ll work together to determine what makes sense for your needs and goals.

I understand that things come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please call or email at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, are subject to the full session fee.

If an emergency prevents you from providing 24 hours’ notice, a late cancellation may be rescheduled if another appointment is available within the same week. Rescheduling in these circumstances is at the therapist’s discretion.

Practical Questions

The practice is private pay and does not bill insurance directly. A superbill can be provided upon request if you’d like to submit it to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

A sliding scale is also available based on need. Because insurance plans vary, you may want to contact your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network mental health benefits.

The fee is $185 per hour.

The initial intake session is 60 minutes, followed by 50-minute individual or couples sessions. A sliding scale is available based on need.

Yes. You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to briefly discuss what you’re looking for, ask questions, and determine whether therapy may be a good fit.

There is no obligation to continue beyond the consultation or first session. Finding a therapist who feels right for you is an important part of the process.

Yes. Confidentiality is an important part of creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. What you share in therapy is kept confidential, with limited exceptions required by law and professional ethics.
